Artist Statement

I am fascinated by the manipulation of fabric to create art through quilting, traditionally a women's activity. Currently I am exploring ways to integrate historical quilt patterns with more intuitive designs. I frequently use commercial fabrics, vintage textiles, photo transfer techniques, and more recently, embellishment. Much of my inspiration comes from pop art. I am drawn to strong graphic design and prefer working with bold saturated colors. The majority of my work is topical: I seek to present an alternative view to current attitudes within our society in order to stimulate thought and discussion.
